Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the Keepr Chrome extension (“Keepr,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use the extension. Keepr is a local-first tool for creating notes, saving text and images from websites, and organizing them with boards and tags.

What Keepr does

Keepr runs entirely in your browser as a Chrome extension. It provides a dashboard where you can browse, search, and organize saved content, and context-menu actions to save selected text or images from web pages you visit. Keepr does not require an account to use.

Information Keepr accesses

Keepr only accesses information when you take an action in the extension, such as saving content or using the dashboard:

How data is stored

All library data is stored on your device only, in your browser, using IndexedDB (via the extension’s local database). This includes saved text, notes, image files, boards, tags, favorite status, and related metadata such as timestamps and source URLs.

Keepr does not operate servers that receive or store your library. We do not sync your data to the cloud as part of the extension.

Network activity

Keepr does not send your library, notes, or saved text to us or to third-party analytics or advertising services. The extension does not include analytics, telemetry, or cloud synchronization features in its current implementation.

The only routine network request in Keepr occurs when you explicitly save an image: the extension downloads the image from the URL you chose (for example, a CDN or image host) so the image can be stored in your local library. That download is initiated by your action; Keepr does not browse or scan websites in the background.

Accounts

Keepr does not offer user accounts, sign-in, or registration. There is no Keepr-hosted profile tied to your identity.

Export and deletion

Chrome extension permissions

Keepr requests the following permissions for the features described above:

  • Context menus — To show “Save to Keepr” when you right-click selected text or an image.
  • Scripting — To read your text selection with better formatting when you save text (only after you use the save action).
  • Alarms — To briefly show a confirmation on the extension icon after a successful save, then clear it automatically.
  • Host permission (<all_urls>) — To download image files from the URL you save, including images hosted on domains different from the page you are viewing. Keepr does not use this permission to collect data without your action.

Children’s privacy

Keepr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us, we do not receive identifiable information from users of any age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Keepr after changes means you accept the updated policy. For material changes, we may also update the extension listing or in-app information where appropriate.
